At the Fürst Löwenstein winery we combine 400 years of winemaking tradition with modern innovation. Our philosophy is based on respect for nature and the appreciation of its gifts. Every vintage tells a unique story, shaped by the natural diversity of our vineyards in the Rheingau and Franconia. Our wines are the result of a harmonious symbiosis of venerable history and contemporary refinement.

The Fürst Löwenstein winery, founded in Franconia in 1611, has a deep-rooted tradition. Evidence of this is an invoice from Count Johann Dietrich zu Löwenstein from that year, which documents the sale of his own wines. This marks the historic beginning of our winery.

Since its founding, the Fürst Löwenstein winery has been a proud member of the Association of German Prädikat Wineries (VDP), an association dedicated to promoting the highest quality standards in viticulture. The Fürst zu Löwenstein group of companies was awarded the Wildlife Estates Label in 2019, which underlines our commitment to sustainable land use and biodiversity. This is reflected in our viticulture, especially in the listed Homburg Kallmuth, where we promote a rich flora and fauna through manual work and minimal use of machines. Our membership in the Wildlife Estates community reinforces our commitment to environmentally conscious and biodiverse agriculture and forestry.

The winery has existed for 400 years. Before that there was Roman and later monastic viticulture here, so our completely modernised winery rests on old, venerable roots in every respect. Our wines are sourced from three wine-growing regions – the wonderful Baden, the mild, picturesque Rheingau and the multifaceted Franken – and vinified in the cellar cathedral of the former mews at Löwenstein Castle.
