WAIPARA PINOT NOIR 2017

VINEYARD
The Crater Rim Waipara Pinot Noir fruit was sourced from ourestate vineyard in the Waipara Valley. The vines were low cropped and sustainablymanaged to provide fruit of great flavour depth, structure and integrity.

SOIL TYPE
Silty clay overlaying calcareous sandy gravels

WINEMAKING

The fruit was fermented in small open top vats, usingnatural yeasts followed by 15 months maturation on lees in new and seasonedFrench oak barriques. After barrel maturation, the wine was bottled withoutfining or filtration.


TASTING NOTES

This is gorgeously fruited and immensely appealing on thenose showing dark cherry, Black Doris plum, vanilla, cedar and toasted spicecharacters with a touch of truffle. The palate is concentrated and wonderfullyweighted with fleshy mouthfeel and velvety texture, splendidly framed by silkytannin.
